Claire & Chris, Hampton Court Castle, Herefordshire, Saturday 28th of August 2010

A perfect sunny summer's day wedding with a black & white theme.

Claire and Chris were introduced by mutual friends who recognised that they might like each other. They discovered a shared love of travel and it was on a trip to Dubai that Chris took the opportunity to propose.

They decided that, although based in Essex, it was Hampton Court Castle in Herefordshire that caught their imagination as their ideal wedding venue and with 18 months to spare they set about planning their perfect day.

Claire and Chris were looking for 'photographers who were a bit modern, not too formal - but with plenty of experience' and it was quite by chance that Ruth bumped into Claire while she was choosing her flowers at the Hibiscus Room florists in Hereford. Claire was keen to see our albums in person and arranged to meet us at our studio the next day. We tailored their coverage to include both a traditional matted Jorgenson album along with a Graphistudio coffee table style book as well extended coverage to include their fireworks.

We took the opportunity to use the Castles ornate gardens as the setting for Claire and Chris's pre wedding shoot and the cafe as the ideal spot for coffee, cake and a chat to discuss the order of events flor their big day and who had to be included in their family photographs.

Their wedding was a dream to photograph. We were blessed with beautiful weather and a great crowd of well dressed, happy people. Claire's uncle used his military training to great effect as master of ceremonies, keeping everything running on time. The wedding ceremony was held outside in the castle's courtyard, bathed in sunshine, to music from the Serenading Strings quartet. After the family photographs we whisked the happy couple off for a quick tour of the splendid gardens, stopping for a few portraits here and there.

They wrote:

'It was brilliant how on the day both of you were really relaxed with each of us, making sure that we were being looked after; canap├ęs, drinks, fixing windswept hair and liberating insects from the veil... we just couldn't fault your service on the day'.

Of the 400+ photographs we presented Claire was delighted to see that 'absolutely no double chins or unflattering angles were featured in the wedding photographs at all!' In order to keep their viewing short and sweet Ruth preselected the photographs she felt would make for a great wedding album. Chris was particularly grateful for this as his friends had assured him that choosing his wedding photographs would take all day, while we were done and dusted in just a couple of hours. They loved their wedding photographs and chose a framed enlargement of the fireworks bursting over Hampton Court, as well as one of themselves in front of the castle, for their walls at home.
