Donna and Alex, Powis Castle, Welshpool, Saturday 29th May 2010.

Powis Castle in the belting rain, what more could we ask for?

Donna and Alex fell in love at a distance - Donna has family in the forces and she wanted to write to a soldier, Alex was the lucky man who wrote back. They knew they were right for each other and it wasn't long before Alex proposed during a rainy holiday on the Norfolk broads. Donna cried for next 24 hours, that's some kind of "Yes".

Once they had settled on a venue and the date for their wedding they started searching for the perfect photographers to cover their big day. Ideally they wanted "pictures that were not formal- different from normal- but above all relaxed" and decided, on the recommendation of another photographer, that we fit the bill exactly.

After meeting up with us at our studio in Kingsland we decided that the castle would be the ideal location for their pre wedding meeting. The sun shone all day at their shoot, we met their two girls, had tea and cake, got to know each other and checked out the best places for pictures at the castle.

Their big day arrived and so did the rain. It poured from the moment we started work at Donna's family's farm until the happy couple left the castle, with only one little respite when we shot the family group photos. Donna was undeterred by the weather, slipping out of her shoes and into a pair of waterproof wellies so that we could take advantage of Powis Castle's grand setting and gardens. After a turn around the castle grounds Donna and Alex traded their glasses of champagne for a quick cup of hot tea and then it was time to leave for their marquee at Penthryn.

The marquee was decked out in a splendid tea party theme and the sun finally came out just in time to welcome the bride and groom! It wasn't long before Alex exchanged his uniform for formal evening wear and the party really began.

Donna and Ruth where both in tears during their album section session. They chose a 12"x16" Graphistudio Wedding Book with tear stain proof laminated pages. They were delighted a few weeks later when they popped in to collect their album and said "we just cannot fault you - we have everything we wanted and more."

We'll let them have the last word, here's the message we got in the christmas card they sent us:

"We just wanted to thank you for creating the most fabulous photo album of our wedding for us. It really shows off how wonderful and how special our day was. We have had so many wonderful comments about your photography and it was a privilege to work with you. It was effortless...

Thank you once again,

Donna & Alex"
